Senior Python Engineer (Full Stack, API & Microservices)

We’re building a modern travel platform that replaces legacy industry plumbing with clean APIs and services our customers and partners can actually ship on. We already run a live API gateway and customer-facing booking services in production — this role is about extending, hardening, and scaling that platform, not starting from a blank page. Location This is hybrid and suitable for people based in the following countries: Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Greece, Cyprus. What you’ll do · Design and build Python microservices and APIs that power our travel platform (gateway, booking, payments orchestration, and related services). · Take features end-to-end — from design through production — with autonomy and clear ownership. · Extend and harden live systems under real traffic: search → book → pay → cancel/refund journeys, with production safety as a first-class concern. · Integrate external supplier and payment APIs with explicit service boundaries and reliable failure handling. · Improve our API/gateway and microservice architecture under production constraints (deployability, observability, reconciliation, operability). · Keep quality high with automated tests, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices. · Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise services for correctness, performance, and scalability. · Contribute across the stack where needed (including light React/front-end) to land complete features. · Use AI-assisted coding tools where they genuinely speed up delivery — without lowering the engineering bar. What we’re looking for · 5+ years’ experience in software engineering, with strong expertise in Python. · Solid experience with microservice architectures and API design (including API gateways). · Experience shipping and operating production services — not only greenfield prototypes. · Comfort integrating third-party APIs (suppliers, payments, or similar) with clear ownership of edge cases and failure modes. · Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and TDD/BDD. · Familiarity with AWS (or equivalent cloud), containers, and modern deploy workflows (Docker/Kubernetes a plus). · Self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced environment and still raise the quality bar. · Comfort with React (or similar) enough to contribute across the stack when needed — not a primary FE hire. · Bonus: event-driven systems, money/reconciliation-sensitive domains, observability, or strong use of AI-assisted engineering tools.
