As an Associate Software Engineer in our API Gateway Platform team within Digital Platforms, you'll help shape the services connecting systems across the LEGO Group while learning from experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.

The API Gateway Platform team within the API Management area develops, maintains, and operates the API gateway supporting LEGO® IT integrations across the globe.
Together, we're creating self-service capabilities, improving developer experiences, and scaling our platform for software engineers worldwide, while building, rebuilding and inspiring new ways of working through shared learning and curiosity.
The API Platform teams are the pillars of our Digital Platforms department.
The goal is to build and maintain platforms, tools and libraries that can be reused and shared across all our product domains as well as enabling engineers across the LEGO Group to adopt our platforms and standard methodologies.
The API Platform is at the core of our API first strategy; we believe that APIs are the key for enabling business agility and provide the way for truly empowered product teams that can access the data they need when they need it.
For this we strive to provide an obedient, scalable and self-serviced API Platform that helps the LEGO Group achieve a common API surface and standardized consumption.
We are an international team based at the vibrant LEGO® Campus in Billund.

Core Responsibilities
Design and operate API gateway capabilities that support reliable integrations at scale.Develop self-service tools, automations, and AI-assisted solutions that improve engineering efficiency.Collaborate with product teams to deliver secure, user-focused API platform features.Support platform operations through incident management and structured on-call rotation.Contribute to engineering communities by sharing knowledge and promoting API principles.
Do you have what it takes?
Experience with C#, TypeScript, or Golang and modern cloud technologies.Familiarity with API development using REST or GraphQL approaches.Comfortable working with Kubernetes, Docker, observability, and troubleshooting practices.Clear English communication skills and a collaborative approach to solving problems.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with Lua, NGINX, networking concepts, or infrastructure-as-code.Exposure to open-source projects, API management, or platform engineering practices.
Additional details on this position
This role works closely with digital product teams and supports priorities including API gateway capabilities for manufacturing environments and emerging agentic architecture initiatives.
You'll have opportunities to learn, explore new technologies, and help shape how engineers use our platform across the LEGO Group.
