My client is a leading Defence organisation looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, mission critical Defence systems where you will be involved in the design, development, integration and testing of embedded software. The Role as an Embedded Software Engineer, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, developing reliable and high performance embedded software for advanced Defence applications. You will have the opportunity to contribute across the full software development lifecycle, working closely with hardware, systems and other software engineers to deliver high quality solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop and test embedded software for Defence systemsDevelop software using C and/or C++Work with embedded systems, real-time software and hardware interfacesIntegrate software with embedded hardware and electronic systemsTroubleshoot, debug and optimise softwareContribute to software architecture and technical designDevelop and maintain software documentationWork closely with systems, electronics, hardware and verification engineersSupport integration, verification and validation activitiesContribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and development practicesAbout You The ideal candidate will have: Professional experience working as an Embedded Software EngineerStrong programming experience in C and/or C++Experience developing software for embedded systemsExperience with real-time systems, RTOS or embedded Linux would be advantageousExperience working with hardware/software interfacesStrong debugging and problem-solving skillsAn understanding of the full software development lifecycleExcellent communication and collaboration skillsExperience within Defence, Aerospace, Automotive, Robotics or another safety/mission-critical environment would be highly regardedSecurity Clearance Requirements Due to the nature of the work, this position requires the successful candidate to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government security clearance. You must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for the required security clearance. Candidates who do not hold Australian citizenship will unfortunately not be eligible for this opportunity. Location This position is Melbourne based and requires you to be located in Melbourne, Australia. The successful candidate will be expected to work from the Melbourne office/site, so this opportunity is not available as a fully remote position. What's on Offer?
