Junior UI Engineer

We are looking for a Junior UI Engineer to join our small team at Pixel Systems. We need someone who can help us build clean, functional interfaces for the internal tools our clients rely on every day. Currently, we are working with a partner, a Berlin-based firm, to overhaul their internal operations dashboard. You will spend your time making sure their team can manage complex data without getting lost in a messy interface. This is a fully remote position where you will focus on building things that actually work, rather than just looking good on a slide deck. About Pixel Systems We are a small software agency that avoids flashy marketing sites in favor of practical business tools. If a company has a spreadsheet that has become too big to handle, they call us to turn it into a database-backed application. We do not do high-pressure launches or endless meetings. We give our clients fixed quotes, show them weekly progress, and hand over clean code and clear documentation when we are done. We are a remote team that values stability and honesty over chasing every new framework that pops up. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. The Role As a Junior UI Engineer, you will be working directly on the frontend of our projects. You will not just be making things look pretty: you will be organizing information so that it is easy to read and use. You will spend your time building components in React, connecting those components to our APIs, and ensuring that our admin panels are responsive and accessible. Much of the work involves taking complex data sets and presenting them in a way that makes sense for a warehouse manager or an operations lead. Since we are a remote company, you will communicate with the rest of the team through written updates and regular video check-ins to show what you have built. What you bring A basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Comfort building a simple webpage from scratch without relying on heavy templates. A preference for writing code that is easy for other people to read and maintain. Good organizational skills, as working remotely requires staying on top of your own schedule. The ability to explain your technical choices clearly in writing. A willingness to ask questions when you are stuck instead of struggling in silence. An interest in how people interact with data and how to make their daily tasks easier. Helpful background Experience with React or another modern JavaScript library through projects or studies. Familiarity with Git and GitHub for managing code changes. Knowledge of how to fetch data from an API and display it on a page. Basic understanding of CSS layouts, including Flexbox or Grid. Exposure to TypeScript, which we use to keep our code predictable. A general curiosity about how backends and databases work.
