Senior Mobile Software Engineer (iOS & Android) Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 Location: Manchester, 3 days per week onsite About the Role We are partnering with an innovative technology business that develops digital products used by a large and growing user base. As part of continued growth, they are looking for a Senior Mobile Software Engineer to help shape the future of their mobile and web platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, working on both native and cross-platform mobile applications while supporting broader software engineering initiatives. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers and engineers to build scalable, secure and user-focused solutions. Key Responsibilities Provide technical leadership across mobile application architecture, development and modernisation initiatives.Support the development and maintenance of both iOS and Android applications.Contribute to long-term platform and technology strategy.Optimise application performance, reliability and user experience.Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve production issues.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and enhancements.Develop, test and deploy scalable, maintainable and secure software solutions.Contribute across mobile, web and backend technology stacks where required.Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.Mentor and support other engineers within the team.Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Required Skills & Experience Essential Strong commercial experience developing mobile applications for both iOS and Android.Strong JavaScript and TypeScript development experience.Commercial experience with React and React Native.Experience with modern React Native tooling and ecosystems.Understanding of native mobile development and platform concepts across iOS and Android.Experience investigating and resolving native application issues.Knowledge of Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin or Java.Experience integrating REST APIs and managing asynchronous application state.Understanding of component-based architecture and reusable UI development.Experience writing automated tests for frontend and mobile applications.Knowledge of mobile application lifecycles, app deployment and release processes.Strong understanding of responsive and adaptive user interface design.Experience working within Agile development environments.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Desirable Experience with Expo, Vite, Vitest or similar modern development tooling.Exposure to legacy mobile technologies and application migrations.Experience with backend development technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, C# or PHP.Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.Experience developing or consuming GraphQL APIs.Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and containerisation.Experience working within regulated industries or handling sensitive data.Exposure to AI-powered applications or Large Language Model integrations.Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
