About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Lead Java Developer to join our dynamic IT security team. This leadership role involves guiding a talented development team, shaping project strategies, and driving the evolution of our security products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Java and modern software architectures, with a passion for transforming complex legacy systems into efficient, scalable microservice-based solutions. As a key contributor, you will be involved in designing, developing, and integrating innovative encryption products that meet the evolving needs of our enterprise customers. Your strategic mindset will help identify new technological pathways and ensure seamless collaboration across R&D teams to maintain our competitive edge. Qualifications Minimum of 7 years of experience leading software development teams, with a proven track record of delivering successful solutions.At least 5 years of practical experience working with Java, primarily Java 21.Deep knowledge of software architecture patterns, including monoliths and microservices.Strong understanding of security protocols and topics such as PKI, S/MIME, OpenPGP, X.509 certificates, and PGP keys.Experience with email protocols like SMTP, JavaMail, and cryptography libraries such as BouncyCastle is highly advantageous.Proficiency in Linux command-line operations and shell scripting (ANSI Shell, Bash).Familiarity with build tools like Gradle and software testing methodologies.Excellent communication skills with professional proficiency in both English and German (C1 level or higher).Ability to think strategically about product development and modernization, with a focus on transforming legacy systems into maintainable architectures.Knowledge of hardware security modules or smart cards is a plus but not mandatory. Responsibilities Lead the development and modernization of our encryption software, transforming monolithic legacy systems into containerized microservice architectures.Design and implement new product features while integrating existing legacy components into modern solutions.Coordinate with cross-functional R&D teams to ensure alignment and seamless integration within the overall architecture.Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high-quality delivery.Proactively identify potential technical blockers or strategic issues, implementing preventative measures.Contribute to strategic planning, exploring innovative technologies and solutions to strengthen our market position.Ensure the team adheres to security best practices, especially concerning cryptography, certificates, and secure communication protocols.Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to maintain high standards of quality and security.
