Role Description The Lead Software Engineer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Helsinki, responsible for driving the technical design and implementation of Merkatus.io’s core platform and services. The person in this role will architect and develop systems, write high-quality, scalable code, and ensure the reliability and performance of production environments. Day-to-day tasks include independent development work and contributing to technical roadmap and best practices, and close colaboration with our Data Scientist. The Lead Software Engineer will also help evaluate new technologies, improve development processes, and maintain a secure and robust engineering infrastructure. Qualifications Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience building production-grade applications.Hands-on expertise in Full-Stack Development, including APIs, microservices, database integration and UI's.Tech stack includes React, TypeScript, Python and PostgreSQLExperience leading engineering projects or teams, with the ability to mentor and guide other developers is a plus.Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development tooling.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience with data-intensive or analytics platforms, and interest in marketing or ad-tech, is a plus.Experience building software and working with LLM's is as plusThis is a hybrid role that includes the ability to work on-site in Helsinki and collaborate in an international, gender-neutral, and inclusive team environment.
