Due to continued growth of our business, we are currently recruiting an experienced Software Developer to join our Digital Technology team based in Manchester.
About The Role
The software developer works in the Digital Technology team and is responsible for the majority of software development tasks and activities that are undertaken on projects.
They take guidance from the senior software developers and managers but can work under their own efforts to deliver large packages of features and outputs.
They are also the first point of contact for junior software developers and work to expand their knowledge and understanding of software development techniques and processes.
The software developer can understand all aspects of the development lifecycle in some part and can detail how large software solutions are built and linked together.
They can also take an idea from concept, to understanding, scoping, and implementation, with guidance from senior team members.
They are expected to contribute to project scoping & estimating, storyboards, feature definitions, development/coding activities, bug fixing, source code consistency, deployment, and maintenance.
They also perform code reviews of other staff members work and produce technical and user documentation of systems.
About Your Responsibilities
Contribute to internal software development projects from concept through to deliverySupport external software development and ongoing maintenance activitiesContribute to the production of project proposals and supporting documentationAnalyse and estimate client requirements, project scope and delivery timeframesDevelop storyboards to support the planning and visualisation of client projectsCreate project plans and monitor progress against agreed milestonesDesign, develop and maintain software to support project deliveryMaintain and enhance existing software applicationsIdentify, track, troubleshoot and resolve software bugsResearch and evaluate new methodologies, technologies and development approachesManage source control across all projects, ensuring effective version managementProduce clear technical documentation and software design specificationsWork collaboratively with the wider project team to deliver high-quality solutionsProduce digital animations and visual content in line with client requirementsGuide and support junior team members in their professional development and learningContribute to the design and implementation of software architecture and infrastructureParticipate in backlog refinement and sprint planning activitiesLiaise with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective solutionsProvide regular progress updates and communicate project feedback to clients and stakeholders
About You
Strong knowledge of C# programming and coding principlesExperience with JavaScript and web developmentFamiliarity with the React frameworkGood working knowledge of HTML and CSSUnderstanding of software development and design principlesKnowledge of software architecture and architectural design principlesExperience working with MS SQL and relational databasesUnderstanding of source control and GitFamiliarity with Atlassian products and toolsUnderstanding of Agile and Scrum methodologiesAbility to produce clear and effective technical documentationStrong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
