Engineering Tech Lead - Java & Agentic AI

Job Opportunity: Engineering Tech Lead – Java & Agentic AI Location: Cracow, hybrid model (6-8 office days per month) Type of contract: B2B English: B2+ Role Overview We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Tech Lead to join an international team developing production-grade applications powered by Large Language Models and agentic AI. The role combines hands-on Java engineering, technical leadership, prompt engineering, and the design of reliable AI agent workflows. You will help build scalable solutions and ensure that AI components are secure, observable, testable, and ready for production. Responsibilities Lead the technical design and delivery of production-ready applications and backend services.Build scalable services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and event-driven architecture.Design and improve prompts for classification, summarisation, code generation, structured outputs, reasoning, and other LLM use cases.Develop and maintain AI agent workflows, including tool calling, planning, memory, and multi-agent processes.Establish structured approaches to prompt management, testing, version control, and quality evaluation.Introduce monitoring, tracing, automated evaluation, validation, and safety controls for production AI solutions.Improve CI/CD processes, automated testing, deployment workflows, and platform observability.Work closely with product specialists and business stakeholders to turn requirements into clear technical and prompt specifications. Requirements Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot, including REST APIs, security, performance, and distributed services.Hands-on experience developing production applications using LLMs, rather than only experimental or personal projects.Practical knowledge of prompt engineering, prompt evaluation, structured output generation, and tool or function calling.Experience designing or implementing AI agents, autonomous workflows, or multi-step LLM processes.Good understanding of React and frontend-to-backend API integration.Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and at least one major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, and messaging or streaming technologies such as Kafka or similar.
