About The Role We are seeking a motivated Senior Backend Developer (m/w/d) to join our dynamic team in a full-time, permanent position. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable web applications and service-oriented interfaces that integrate complex business logic across various projects. Your expertise will support the continuous improvement of legacy systems and existing applications, ensuring they meet modern standards and future demands. You will act as a technical point of contact in third-level support, analyzing incidents, identifying root causes, and proactively assisting in solution development and release planning. Your role also involves managing database architecture, optimizing system performance, and translating stakeholder requirements into effective technical solutions. Collaboration within the team and clear documentation are vital aspects of your responsibilities, ensuring knowledge sharing and project success. Qualifications The ideal candidate possesses a university degree in computer science or a comparable qualification, with at least five years of professional experience in backend development within a PHP environment. You have extensive knowledge of PHP (versions 7.3 to 8.4), PHP frameworks such as Symfony, Laravel, or Slim, and experience with database administration using MySQL. Familiarity with SOAP web services and JSON APIs is essential. You are experienced in working with development teams using Git/GitLab and SCRUM methodologies. Knowledge of automated testing tools like Codeception, as well as conducting code reviews, is required to ensure high-quality code standards. Practical experience with modern package management systems like Composer and a strong analytical mindset are important. You should be capable of quickly understanding new technical topics and working independently within an experienced team. Fluency in German (minimum C2 level) and the ability to work remotely from anywhere in Germany are also essential. Responsibilities Your core responsibilities include designing and developing scalable web applications and APIs that support complex business processes. You will maintain and enhance existing systems, ensuring their stability and performance. As a technical support lead, you will analyze incidents, identify causes, and implement solutions, including critical hotfixes, to uphold system reliability. You will oversee database architecture, focusing on efficiency and scalability to accommodate future growth. Coordination within the team is crucial; you will convert technical and business requirements into structured project tasks and ensure adherence to sprint plans. Engaging with stakeholders, evaluating new requirements, and translating them into feasible solutions are part of your role. Additionally, you will create and maintain comprehensive development documentation, facilitating knowledge transfer and project continuity.
