Azure Application Developer (PostgreSQL Database)

Position Description We are looking for an Azure Application Developer with strong hands-on experience in PostgreSQL and database migration, particularly migrating databases such as MySQL or Oracle to PostgreSQL. In this role, you will work with Azure application and data services, including Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, App Services, Azure SQL, and Function Apps. A key focus will be supporting database migration initiatives and working extensively with PostgreSQL and SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures, and database performance concepts. This is a hybrid role requiring attendance at our downtown Toronto office and/or project location a minimum of one day per week. This requirement is subject to change at any time. Your future duties and responsibilities Support and execute database migrations from platforms such as MySQL or Oracle to PostgreSQL. Develop and support applications using Microsoft Azure cloud technologies. Work extensively with PostgreSQL, including SQL development and database-related troubleshooting. Develop and support Azure Data Factory pipelines, datasets, linked services, mapping, data flows, and Self-hosted Integration Runtime integrations. Read and write data from different sources using Azure Data Lake SDKs, APIs, and configurations. Work with Azure App Services, including Web Apps and API Apps. Work with Azure SQL and Azure SQL Managed Instance, including SQL programming and Azure SQL feature differences. Azure Function Apps, including HTTP-triggered and timer-triggered applications. Write and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and stored procedures. Work with database partitioning, indexes, statistics, and explain/execution plans. Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in application development, including experience with Azure cloud technologies and database development. Hands-on experience migrating databases, such as MySQL or Oracle, to PostgreSQL is a key requirement for this position. Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL databases. Working knowledge of Azure cloud development and design. Experience with Azure App Services, including Web Apps and API Apps. Experience with Azure Data Lake and Azure Data Factory. Experience with Azure SQL and/or Azure SQL Managed Instance. Experience with Azure Function Apps. Strong SQL programming and troubleshooting skills, including complex queries and stored procedures. Working knowledge of database partitioning, indexes, statistics, and explain/execution plans. Strong communication and reporting skills. CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000-$115,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
