Senior Backend Engineer (Investment & Brokerage)

What You Will Do Design, develop, and continuously improve Java-based backend services for an investment and brokerage platform.Take ownership of technical design for scalable, maintainable, and highly available microservices and distributed applications.Build and govern APIs and integration services, including REST APIs, gRPC interfaces,asynchronous messaging, and connections to internal or external platforms.Deliver backend capabilities that support customer onboarding, account management,user access and entitlements, cash movement, transaction history, and investment-related activity.Build services that support transaction servicing, operational processing, workflow automation, data controls, exception handling, and auditability.Work with business and operations stakeholders to assess requirements, understand dataflows, identify technical dependencies, and propose practical solutions.Improve service quality through automated testing, peer reviews, CI/CD, monitoring,logging, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning.Lead investigation of complex production issues and improve reliability, recovery,scalability, fault tolerance, and operational readiness.Support and mentor other engineers through technical discussions, design reviews, codereviews, and hands-on problem solving.Contribute to engineering standards, platform documentation, and continuous improvement of the software-delivery process. What You need 6+ years of hands-on backend software-engineering experience, with strong professional experience in Java.Strong experience with the Spring ecosystem, ideally including Spring Boot, Spring MVC,Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, or equivalent frameworks.Proven experience delivering and operating production systems built with microservices,service-oriented architecture, or distributed-system principles.Strong API and integration experience, including RESTful services; exposure to gRPC,messaging, event-driven architectures, or third-party integrations is welcome.Strong relational-database capability, including data modelling, SQL development,indexing, transactions, query optimisation, and performance tuning.Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar relational databases.Experience with data-access or ORM tools such as Hibernate, JPA, Spring Data, MyBatis, or quivalent.Strong understanding of code quality, object-oriented design, design patterns, automated testing, Git, CI/CD, and modern Agile delivery practices.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and improve backend performance, stability, and scalability.Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and provide guidance through architecture discussions, technical reviews, and code reviews. Preferred Experience Financial services, digital investment, brokerage, wealth management, asset management,capital markets, payments, or another high-volume transaction environment.Trading, account platforms, market data, custody, post-trade processing, settlement,clearing, reconciliation, corporate actions, or investment operations.Redis, Apache Kafka, IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, or other caching, messaging, and event-streaming technologies.Identity and access management, including JWT, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, multi-factor authentication, device binding, passkeys, FIDO2, or WebAuthn.Docker, Kubernetes, cloud-native deployment, AWS, Alibaba Cloud, or similar cloud platforms.GraphQL, MongoDB, or other NoSQL databases.High-concurrency, low-latency, real-time, or event-driven systems.Digital assets, virtual-asset trading, custody, tokenisation, or blockchain-related financial platforms.AI-enabled products, backend AI-service integration, data pipelines, workflow automation,or platform capabilities supporting AI applications.Strong candidates with fewer than six years may also be considered for a Backend Engineer position.
