Role: Digital Solutions Engineer Permanent Role Location: Sydney | Hybrid Salary: $160,000 + super Start Date: ASAP About Your New Company West Recruitment is partnering with a major organisation operating within a complex, asset-intensive environment. The business is investing heavily in its technology and digital capability, with a focus on using data, automation and emerging technology to improve the way its operations are managed. As part of this investment, they are looking for a Digital Solutions Engineer who can bridge the gap between engineering, data and technology. About Your New Role This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys taking a business or operational problem and building the solution. You will work across a range of digital initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve processes, make better use of data and automate manual activities. Rather than specialising in one technology, you will work across data engineering, analytics, software development and automation. You will take solutions from initial problem definition through to development, implementation and ongoing improvement. Key Responsibilities Include Work with operational, engineering and technology teams to identify problems and improvement opportunities Use Python and SQL to manipulate, analyse and transform complex datasets Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions Develop data pipelines and integrate information from multiple systems and sources Build analytics, reporting and decision-support solutions Develop automation to improve workflows and reduce manual processes Work with LiDAR and imagery datasets to support engineering and operational outcomes Build solutions across modern cloud and data platforms Develop dashboards and visualisations that provide meaningful operational insights Explore and apply emerging technologies including AI, machine learning, Digital Twins and intelligent automation Contribute to application development and integration initiatives Work across multiple projects from initial concept through to implementation Develop reusable solutions and technical standards that can be adopted across the wider organisation About You You will be technically strong but equally comfortable working directly with stakeholders. You may currently be working as a Digital Engineer, Data Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Software Engineer, Analytics Engineer or within a similar technical role. Ideally, You Will Bring 3+ years' experience within a technical engineering, data, analytics or software environment Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or a related discipline Strong Python and SQL skills Experience working with Azure and modern cloud technologies Exposure to platforms such as Databricks or similar data environments Strong Power BI or data visualisation experience Understanding of data engineering and data modelling Experience working with LiDAR, imagery or other complex spatial datasets Experience developing automation and improving technical workflows Exposure to Digital Twins, AI/ML or other emerging technologies Exposure to application development technologies such as React, Node.js or similar Understanding of DevOps principles including version control, testing and CI/CD Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through ambiguous technical challenges What's in it for you?
