Senior Backend Developer

Required Skills & Experience 6 to 10+ years building production backend services, end-to-end.Strong backend proficiency in C# / .NET preferred; other OOP languages welcome (Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent).SQL and relational database fundamentals.Writing and maintaining tests.Daily use of agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) across the SDLC.Production experience with AWS, including hands-on deployment, CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices, and native services such as SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, and Lambda.Strong system design and architecture experience, including service-oriented or microservices and event-driven patterns.Payments, FX, or regulated-industry experience.Track record of technical leadership: mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and making architecture decisions in your domain.Strong written and verbal communication. Nice to Have Skills & Experience Experience with ledgers, double-entry accounting, or other financial-data systems.Experience hiring, interviewing, or onboarding engineers.Experience leading modernization or platform migrations.Experience with caching solutions like Memcached or Redis.Experience using project management and documentation tools like Jira and Confluence.Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman or Bruno.Writing automated tests alongside development with AI tools (Claude Code or equivalent). About the Role Insight Global's client is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to play a key role in designing, building, and enhancing the next generation of its payments platform. This individual will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and system design through production deployment and operational support. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with product, compliance, operations, and engineering leaders while developing highly scalable backend services that support payment processing, settlement, onboarding, and financial transactions. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services supporting financial transactions and payment platform functionality.Build and enhance systems related to onboarding, payments, settlement, foreign exchange, and business-critical financial operations.Collaborate with product, compliance, and operational teams to deliver new capabilities from concept through deployment.Develop and maintain integrations with external partners and third-party platforms.Drive service reliability, monitoring, observability, incident response, and production readiness within assigned domains.Participate in architecture discussions, technical planning, and design reviews.Provide mentorship and technical guidance to mid-level engineers.Contribute to modernization initiatives involving cloud infrastructure, service-oriented architecture, and platform transformation efforts.Leverage AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle to improve productivity and code quality.
