We're seeking an Engineer to build high-performance data systems that ingest and query real-time behavioral data. The role involves stitching together user journeys across platforms and working on core attribution infrastructure. Remote-friendly environment with a small team focused on solving complex data challenges.

Highlights

A role building attribution and data platforms for creator economy tools. Fully remote setup, small team, profitable company, and opportunity to shape core data infrastructure impacting creator revenue.

Description

Trakyo is marketing attribution for creators, agencies, and online education. We track which YouTube video, Instagram reel, ad, or sales call actually drove revenue β€” across deep links, tracking pixels, webhooks, and stitched user journeys. Our customers range from solo creators to eight-figure education businesses and the agencies that run their media. Trakyo is fully remote across Canada. Revenue is strong and growing fast, we're profitable, and the roadmap β€” not the market β€” is our bottleneck. That's where you come in. The team is small and the work is broad. You'll be hands-on across the stack, and what you own shifts based on your interest and skill rather than a fixed org chart. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help build the attribution and data platform underneath every Trakyo customer. Your primary responsibility will be building high-performance backend systems that ingest, stitch, and query large volumes of real-time behavioral and revenue data. This role requires strong experience in backend development, particularly Postgres at scale and SQL you're comfortable owning rather than calling. You will design and implement the data layer that attribution runs on β€” schema, query performance, migration safety on hot tables β€” and take features from concept through deployment, working directly with the people who talk to customers. A key aspect of this role is judgment under production load. Our tracking path is always on, our tables are large and hot, and a migration that passes every test can still take down a webhook. We want someone who reasons explicitly about locks, windows, and blast radius before shipping. What we're working on right now: - Scaling our multi-tenant data platform (Supabase Postgres + ClickHouse) - Next-gen attribution and tracking infrastructure - Public API, SDK, and MCP server for partners and power users - New platform integrations (Meta, LinkedIn, Google, and beyond) - Machine learning and data science on proprietary attribution data β€” the biggest bet on our roadmap and the part we're most excited about. Happy to go deep on it in conversation. - SOC 2 and the security and privacy work that comes with moving upmarket Responsibilities - Design, develop, and optimize backend systems for real-time event ingestion, identity stitching, and revenue attribution. - Own the data layer end to end: schema design, query performance, index strategy, and migrations that are safe to run against live traffic. - Work across the stack and across teams to integrate backend components with the dashboard, edge workers, and partner-facing APIs. - Conduct deep dives into problematic features β€” research and analyze their behavior to find root causes. Develop hypotheses, run experiments, analyze results, and turn findings into shipped engineering improvements. - Conduct performance tuning, debugging, and testing to keep the platform reliable and efficient. Foster a data-driven culture by sharing engineering best practices and collaborating across projects. - We don't run a formal on-call rotation today. As the team and customer base grow we likely will β€” and when we do it'll be shared evenly, scheduled well in advance, and built to keep off-hours interruptions rare. - Mentor other engineers and set standards the rest of the team will copy. Qualifications - 5+ years of backend or full-stack development experience. - Strong, demonstrated experience with TypeScript and Node.js, or a willingness to learn it well. - Strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems. - Strong SQL, with hands-on experience running schema changes and migrations against large, high-write production tables β€” you think about locks and blast radius before you ship. - Experience building and optimizing APIs, real-time data processing systems, and event-driven architectures. - Proficiency with general software engineering tools: Git, IDEs, shell scripting, CI/CD. - Comfortable in a small team and being hands-on, with the judgment to work independently and the instinct to collaborate. - Senior enough to set standards and mentor without ego. - Proficient in English for clear communication on a distributed, async-first team. Nice to Have - BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. - Attribution, martech, or ad tech domain experience. - Cloudflare Workers or other edge compute; Hono or equivalent. - Practical experience with analytical storage systems like ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks. - Applied ML, data engineering, or large-scale data pipelines. - Experience with observability tooling β€” Grafana, Sentry, Datadog, or equivalent monitoring and logging platforms. - Experience with infrastructure-as-code and modern deployment tooling. - Excellent understanding of internet privacy mechanisms β€” cookies, consent, and the identity constraints attribution has to live inside. Stack: Supabase (multi-tenant Postgres), ClickHouse, Cloudflare Workers, Next.js, TypeScript, Hono. AI-forward β€” Claude Code, plus automated deep review on every PR. Compensation Range For Canada-based employees, the cash compensation range for this role is CA$160,000 – CA$240,000. We set ranges based on function, level, and experience, benchmarked against similar-stage companies. To provide greater transparency and comply with local legislation, we share compensation ranges on all job postings. Where you land in the range reflects the scope you're ready to own on day one. Benefits Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, and an Employee and Family Assistance Program. Four weeks of paid vacation, plus statutory holidays. Working at Trakyo Trakyo is fully remote across Canada. We work in 2-week sprints, async-first. This role is open to candidates based in Canada who are already legally entitled to work here β€” citizens, permanent residents, or holders of a valid open work permit. We do not sponsor work permits or provide immigration support, and we're not able to make exceptions. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive work environment for everyone. We embrace the unique experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds that each person brings to our team, and we strive for an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered. We highly encourage people from underrepresented groups in tech to apply. A Note on Recruiting Scams We have noticed a rise in recruiting impersonations across the industry, where scammers attempt to access candidates' personal and financial information through fake interviews and offers. All Trakyo recruiting email communications will always come from the @trakyo.io domain. Any outreach claiming to be from Trakyo via other sources should be ignored. How to Apply Email me at roger@trakyo.io with a few lines on why this fits what you've built, and attach your rΓ©sumΓ©.
