Description

Omniva connects people, businesses, and communities across the Baltics and beyond. We’ve grown from Estonia’s trusted postal service into a modern, technology-driven logistics company supporting the growth of e-commerce and global trade. Every day, we help our customers send, receive, and grow — with care, precision, and reliability. Our people are at the heart of everything we do: caring, open, and driven to deliver experiences that feel personal and effortless. At Omniva, every delivery carries possibility — and every team member helps make that happen. About The Role We're looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and lead the design and implementation of the cloud foundation our entire new data platform will run on. In this role, you'll own the cloud foundation: project structure, identity and access, networking, secret management, and the infrastructure-as-code that defines all of it. You'll design the connectivity between the cloud and on-premise systems, influence what the platform costs to run before a single query is written, and set the guardrails that keep it secure and compliant. After the foundation is established, you will then own and improve on its reliability, cost, and security. You'll build this alongside a compact team of experienced engineers who know the data and the business deeply, even bringing one of them into co-ownership as you go. This is an opportunity to be part of Omniva's transformation, helping shape the future of logistics and technology across the Baltics and beyond. What You’ll Do Design and build our GCP foundation in Terraform: project and folder hierarchy, IAM and least-privilege access, organisation policy, and reusable modules other engineers consumeDesign and implement secure hybrid connectivity between GCP and our on-premise and Kubernetes-hosted source systems, including private networking, DNS, and firewallingOwn BigQuery physical design and the decisions that set our cost floor: partitioning and clustering strategy, storage billing model, slot reservations versus on-demand, and how data in cloud storage is exposed to the warehouseOwn secret management, service account design, and workload identity across the platformEstablish the orchestration runtime, including the choice between managed and self-hosted Airflow, with the reasoning and the numbers behind itBuild cost governance and observability into the platform from the start: budgets, query guardrails, quota management, and monitoringOwn data residency and compliance requirements in the platform design: region strategy, customer-managed encryption keys, and support for data protection assessmentsBring our existing on-prem platform engineer to full co-ownership of the platform What You Bring Deep, hands-on GCP experience. You have built production environments on GCP, not just worked inside ones somebody else builtExpert-level Terraform. You have designed reusable module structures and managed state for a multi-project estateStrong cloud networking skills, including hybrid connectivity to on-premise systems (Interconnect or VPN, private service access, DNS, firewalling)Deep IAM and cloud security experience: least-privilege design, service accounts and workload identity, organisation policy, and secret managementPractical BigQuery expertise: partitioning, clustering, slot and reservation management, and cost control at scaleDemonstrated cost engineering. You can explain how a design decision changed what a platform cost to run, with real numbersExperience operating in a regulated or data-sensitive environment, including EU data residency and GDPR considerationsStrong scripting and automation skills in Python, and comfort with Docker and containerized workloadsExperience with CI/CD and Git-based workflows, including infrastructure pipelines and service account impersonation over long-lived keysExperience with a data warehouse or analytics platform, and a working understanding of how data pipelines consume infrastructureProficiency in English is required, written and spoken Why you’ll love working here At Omniva, we live our values every day.
