Description
Omniva connects people, businesses, and communities across the Baltics and beyond.
We’ve grown from Estonia’s trusted postal service into a modern, technology-driven logistics company supporting the growth of e-commerce and global trade.
Every day, we help our customers send, receive, and grow — with care, precision, and reliability.
Our people are at the heart of everything we do: caring, open, and driven to deliver experiences that feel personal and effortless.
At Omniva, every delivery carries possibility — and every team member helps make that happen.
About The Role
We're looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and contribute to the design and implementation of an entirely new data platform in the cloud.
In this role, you'll own the frameworks, tooling, and delivery infrastructure underneath our data pipelines, spanning shared Python libraries, orchestration, CI/CD, and the transformation layer that turns raw operational data into reliable, well-governed data the business runs on.
You'll set the standard for how software gets written here, and much of what you build will outlast any single project, so we care a great deal about code that is tested, documented, and maintainable by people other than its author.
You'll work closely with a compact team of experienced engineers who know the data and the business deeply, and who are looking for a peer to build alongside.
This is an opportunity to be part of Omniva’s transformation, helping shape the future of logistics and technology across the Baltics and beyond.
What You’ll Do
Design and build the Python frameworks and shared libraries our ingestion pipelines are built on: interfaces, packaging, dependency management, and test coverageOwn CI/CD across our data repositories (GitLab/GitHub), including build pipelines, review gates, pre-commit tooling, and dev/prod parityContainerize and deploy data services with DockerBuild the orchestration layer in Airflow: DAG templating, generation from config, standard patterns, and monitoring and alerting conventionsWrite application-level infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) alongside our cloud platform engineer, and own the CI that ships itOwn dbt as a platform rather than a set of models: macro design, incremental strategies at scale, testing strategy, and keeping a large dbt project fast and maintainableContribute to warehouse performance work: model-level SQL, query tuning, and physical layout decisions across both the current and target warehouses during the transitionRaise the engineering standard of the people around you through code review, documentation, and questioning assumptions
What You Bring
Proven Python proficiency.
You can build and maintain production-grade systems that other engineers depend on, not scriptsStrong software engineering fundamentals: testing, packaging, dependency management, interface design, and code review practiceExperience building, NOT just using, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar)Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version controlExperience with Airflow, including maintaining and upgrading instancesExperience with dbt beyond writing models: macros, incremental materializations, testing, and project structure at scaleStrong SQL skills, including query optimization and a solid understanding of warehouse internals (partitioning, clustering, sort order, workload management); familiarity with Vertica is a plusExperience with data replication or ingestion from operational source systems, including change data capture, audit or history tables, and API loadingExposure to GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Storage) is a strong plus, as is exposure to Apache Iceberg or similar open table formatsProficiency in English is required, written and spoken
