Backend Python Developer

About the Company: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build highly scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions within our core banking platform. About the Role: You will work in a cross-functional engineering team focused on enhancing a distributed microservices-based system that processes high volumes of financial transactions. Responsibilities: Design and deliver high-quality features and enhancementsOwn end-to-end delivery of large features (3+ month initiatives)Create technical design specifications collaborativelyParticipate in sprint planning and provide accurate estimatesBuild secure and scalable distributed systemsOptimize system performance to meet SLAsConduct peer code reviewsMentor junior engineers and promote best engineering practices Qualifications: 7+ years of software development experienceStrong experience with microservices architecture & distributed systemsExperience with Docker / container-based systemsStrong proficiency in Python (preferred) or another object-oriented languageDeep understanding of RESTful API developmentStrong SQL skills and experience with MySQLSolid understanding of RDBMS concepts (transactions, isolation levels, locking, deadlocks)Experience with RabbitMQ or similar message brokersExperience with GitHub or similar code repositoriesComfortable working in Unix/Linux environmentsExcellent communication skills Required Skills: Experience integrating with Payroll Providers and Time & Attendance platformsCloud computing experience Preferred Skills: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fieldDegree must be from a Canadian university OR a US university Equal Opportunity Statement: Equal Opportunity Employer.
