We're building our in-house engineering team, and you'll be one of its first senior engineers working directly with our Head of Engineering to take full ownership of the platform. This is a hands-on role on a small team: you'll design, ship, and operate consumer-facing systems end to end, from API design through deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution. What you'll achieve Design and ship backend systems in TypeScript/NestJS on PostgreSQL, Redis, and event-driven infrastructure , owning features from design through productionBuild and operate the systems behind a consumer fintech product: payments flows, wallets, cashback, search and discoveryMake solid system design decisions, scope the right-sized solution, ship an MVP, iterate. We value shipping over over-engineeringOwn what you ship: deployments, observability, and incidents through to resolutionUse AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) as a core part of your daily workflow, and help raise the bar for how the team builds with themContribute to engineering standards as the team grows: code review, CI/CD, testing practices What we're looking for: 5–6 years of backend engineering experience, with 4+ years in TypeScript/Node.jsExperience building B2C / consumer-facing products at meaningful scale, preferably Fintech/Payments.Strong system design fundamentals with an MVP mindset; you know how to scope and ship the right-sized solutionDeep NestJS expertise: dependency injection and module architecture, the full request lifecycle (guards, interceptors, pipes, filters)Strong Node.js fundamentals (event loop, streams, async patterns)Relational database design with PostgreSQL, NoSQL experience, and fluency with an ORM (Prisma or similar)In-memory data stores (e.g., Redis) for caching, sessions, and pub/subEvent-driven architecture and message queues (SQS or similar)Search engine experience: Typesense, Elasticsearch or similarTesting discipline: Jest, Supertest, TestcontainersFull deployment ownership: CI/CD with GitHub Actions, containers/Kubernetes literacy, observability with Sentry or similar, and comfort with on-callGenuine daily use of AI coding tools (Claude code, Cursor), embedded in how you work, not occasionalStrong communicator: Comfortable discussing trade-offs with engineers and product Nice to have: Payments, billing, or double-entry ledger systemsRAG pipelines, vector databases, embedding-based searchBuilding MCP servers/tools or Claude SkillsCloud infrastructure experience (AWS/GCP)
