Company Description LMBR is an AI-native operating system built specifically for the lumber and building-materials industry, designed to work alongside existing ERPs used by lumberyards, truss plants, and building-material dealers.
Its primary product, LMBR BOLT-ON, learns how each company operates, connects information across departments, and provides evidence-based recommendations while keeping the ERP as the system of record.
LMBR supports workflows across estimating, quoting, sales, purchasing, inventory, yard operations, dispatch, delivery, truss production, credit, accounts receivable, and management.
The platform offers a Shadow Mode that analyzes authorized data and real workflows without taking direct operational action, allowing teams to compare LMBR’s recommendations with actual decisions and results before granting greater authority.
Founded by industry veteran Kenny Mays, LMBR is built around the needs of operational teams and is currently preparing deployments for Founding Clients beginning January 4, 2027.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Software Engineer role based in the Greater Phoenix Area.
The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain backend services that power LMBR’s AI-native operating system and BOLT-ON product, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.
Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing new features, integrating with ERP and other external systems, writing clean and testable code, and collaborating with product and operations teams to translate real-world workflows into robust software solutions.
The role also involves troubleshooting and optimizing existing code, participating in code reviews, contributing to architecture decisions, and ensuring security and data integrity across supported workflows.
The Software Engineer will work closely with stakeholders to refine requirements, improve developer tooling, and support the continuous evolution of LMBR’s platform.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience delivering production-grade applications.Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and integration with external systems.Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and related design patterns.Experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar) and version control systems.Familiarity with cloud platforms, microservices, or containerization is beneficial.Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience or interest in the lumber, building-materials, or manufacturing domains is a plus.
