About The Role We are currently seeking a motivated Senior Backend Developer (m/w/d) to join our team in a full-time, permanent position. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and developing robust, scalable web applications and service-oriented interfaces that integrate complex business logic across various projects. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining and advancing legacy systems and existing applications, ensuring their technological relevance and efficiency. As a technical point of contact in third-level support, you will analyze incidents, identify root causes, and proactively contribute to solution development and release planning. Your role also involves planning, managing, and optimizing our databases with a focus on efficiency and scalability, as well as coordinating within the team to translate technical and business requirements into effective solutions. You will evaluate new requirements in collaboration with internal stakeholders, create comprehensive documentation, and ensure knowledge is preserved and accessible. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a degree in computer science or a comparable qualification, with at least five years of professional experience in backend development, particularly within PHP environments. You should possess strong expertise in PHP (versions 7.3 to 8.4), frameworks such as Symfony, Laravel, or Slim, and database administration with MySQL. Experience with SOAP web services and JSON APIs is essential. Familiarity with development tools like Git/GitLab, and agile methodologies such as SCRUM, is required. You should also have a solid understanding of automated testing techniques, including tools like Codeception, and be capable of conducting code reviews to maintain high-quality standards. Practical experience with modern package management systems like Composer and a quick grasp of new technical topics are highly valued. The ability to work independently in a remote setting across Germany and fluency in German (minimum C2 level) are also necessary. Responsibilities Your primary responsibilities will include the conception and development of scalable web applications and service interfaces, ensuring integration of complex business logic across diverse projects. You will maintain and enhance existing systems, ensuring their continued relevance and performance. As a key contact for third-level support, you will analyze incidents, identify causes, and support proactive problem resolution, including hotfix deployment to ensure system stability. Managing and optimizing database architecture for efficiency and scalability will be a core part of your role. You will coordinate your tasks within the team, translating project requirements into structured sprint plans and maintaining focus on project goals. Additionally, you will evaluate new technical and functional requirements through direct stakeholder communication, translating them into feasible solutions and contributing to project planning. Documenting development processes and solutions will be essential to ensure knowledge retention and accessibility for the team.
