Senior Software Engineer | Python / C++ / React Melbourne or Sydney | Hybrid Working Are you a Senior Software Engineer looking to work on complex, high-impact software used by thousands of customers? We are partnering with a leading technology organisation within the financial services sector to find an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a collaborative product engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to the development and evolution of a market-leading platform. You’ll be working on a mix of new features, product enhancements and existing systems, solving complex technical problems across multiple products and APIs. The Role As a Senior Software Engineer, you will: Design, develop and maintain high-quality, scalable and resilient softwareWork primarily across Python and C++ backend technologies, with some frontend development using ReactContribute across multiple interconnected products and APIsTake ownership of work from initial design through to deployment and production supportBuild quality into the development process through automated testing and strong engineering practicesContribute to application architecture, clean code and scalable technical solutionsWork closely with product, requirements, support and other engineering teamsTroubleshoot and resolve complex production issuesImprove engineering processes by identifying opportunities for automation and reducing manual effortMentor and support less-experienced engineers within the teamContribute to a highly collaborative, knowledge-sharing engineering culture What We're Looking For We're looking for an experienced engineer with: Strong commercial experience in Python and/or C++A willingness and ability to work across both languagesExperience with React or other modern frontend technologiesExperience building and integrating APIs and complex software applicationsA strong understanding of automated testing and software quality practicesExperience with CI/CD, source control and modern engineering practicesKnowledge of software architecture, clean code principles and designing systems for scaleExperience working in Agile environmentsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguityA collaborative approach, with a willingness to mentor others and share knowledge Experience within financial services, fintech or other complex product environments would be beneficial, but is not essential.
