About The Role In support of our Data Processing & Analytics Team, Airbus Defence and Space GmbH is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer (m/w/d) to join our dynamic environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about backend development and platform operations to contribute to the development, maintenance, and scaling of our data analytics infrastructure. As a vital member of the team, you will work at the intersection of software engineering and DevOps practices, ensuring our data ecosystem remains performant, reliable, and observable. Your responsibilities will include automating deployment processes, managing modern data stores within containerized environments, and collaborating closely with data engineers and analysts to optimize our analytics capabilities. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess an academic degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Technical proficiency in core programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Kotlin is essential, along with a foundational understanding of DevOps tools including Ansible, Terraform, Gitlab-CI, Helm, and OCI. Experience with Linux/Unix systems, shell scripting, and version control systems like Git is required. Certifications such as CKA or CKAD are advantageous. Fluency in English and German is necessary to thrive in our multicultural environment. Soft skills such as analytical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and proactive learning are equally valued. Responsibilities Contribute to DevOps engineering efforts by developing and maintaining automation scripts and deployment pipelines using tools like Ansible, Gitlab-CI, and Helm.Assist in provisioning, configuring, and maintaining operational databases, with a focus on MongoDB (NoSQL) and InfluxDB (time-series data).Support platform operations by managing containerized deployments on Kubernetes (RKE) and deploying applications through Helm charts.Implement and maintain observability and monitoring solutions using Prometheus and Grafana to ensure system health and uptime.Utilize Git for version control, manage code workflows, and automate routine tasks via Unix shell scripting.Participate in code reviews, document setup procedures, and collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot infrastructure issues and optimize system performance.
