Description
Role Description The API Developer will design, build, and maintain APIs that connect AI solutions with manufacturing, industrial, and distribution systems, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable integrations.
Day-to-day responsibilities include developing RESTful and/or GraphQL endpoints, integrating with internal and external services, optimizing performance, and troubleshooting production issues.
The role will collaborate with AI consultants and client technical teams to translate business workflows into robust API architectures, document interfaces, and support testing and deployment.
This is a part-time, remote role that requires proactive communication, self-management, and comfort working with distributed teams across time zones.
Qualifications
Strong skills in API development and integration, including RESTful and/or GraphQL design, versioning, and documentation.Experience with backend programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, or similar) and microservices architectures.Knowledge of data exchange formats and protocols such as JSON, XML, HTTP, and webhooks, and experience with asynchronous messaging.Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services for API hosting, monitoring, and scaling.Understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices (e.g., OAuth2, JWT, encryption, rate limiting).Experience working with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and designing schemas that support high-throughput API usage.Ability to collaborate with AI/ML teams, translate business requirements into technical specifications, and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.Background in or exposure to manufacturing, industrial, or logistics systems (e.g., ERP, MES, WMS) is highly beneficial.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Comfort working remotely, managing part-time schedules, and contributing to documentation, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
