Role Overview We are looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer (SFIA Level 4 – Enable) with 5–8 years of experience to take ownership of running, evolving, and securing our AWS and secure on-premise environments. You will lead on production support, drive automation and observability improvements, and act as a technical authority across the platform, mentoring less experienced engineers along the way. Preferred Tech Stack Expertise Cloud Infrastructure: AWS (EKS, RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, Kafka, IAM)Secure Hosting: Experience working with air-gapped or government-secure environmentsContainer & Cluster Management: Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, Jenkins, HelmMonitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, DynatraceSecrets & Identity Management: HashiCorp Vault, KeycloakCI/CD & DevOps Tooling: Jenkins, Git, ServiceNow, Trivy, TerraformStreaming & Messaging: Apache Kafka (including Kafka Replication)Data Layers: PostgreSQL, Redis, RDLsAutomation: IaC, pipeline build automation, event relay toolingScripting: Bash, Python, Groovy, Lambda functions Responsibilities Own and continuously evolve the AWS and secure on-premise environments, ensuring high availability and resilience.Lead Level 3 (L3) production support and non-production environment maintenance, including 24/7 on-call support, acting as an escalation point for complex incidents.Ensure all services are compliant with security standards and drive adherence to the change and release governance model.Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure components: event streaming (Kafka), databases (Aurora, RDS, Redis), identity management (Keycloak), and caching layers.Enhance and maintain CI/CD tooling and self-service developer pipelines for tenant teams, identifying opportunities for platform-wide improvement.Proactively manage and resolve technical debt, working with central governance bodies and providing visibility to the board.Drive increased automation, observability, and testing coverage across platform components, enabling data-driven decision-making.Align delivery with the product roadmap, collaborating with internal/external platform and infrastructure teams to support scalable, resilient services.Support critical national infrastructure tasks, including platform deployments, incident/problem/change management, and continual service improvement (ITIL-aligned).Use and integrate ServiceNow (or its successor) to track and manage changes, incidents, requests, and problem records.Support replication services, match engines, and secure data flows (Impex, Threat, Kafka replication).Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
