As our network grows rapidly, we are looking for a Senior Software Developer (Back-end Focus) who brings a blend of hands-on technical excellence, architectural oversight, and technology leadership to anchor our core back-end engineering function.
The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will be responsible for the architectural integrity, scalability, and 99.9% high-availability uptime of the back-end services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure that underpin our charging network.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Back-end Architecture & Engineering: Design, build, and scale critical back-end microservices and event-driven architectures using Node.js and TypeScript.API & Roaming Orchestration: Build secure, high-performance public/private APIs and integrations with key charging partners.Data & Cloud Infrastructure: Own MongoDB schema design, indexing, and query optimization, while deploying resilient services on Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Hardware-Software Integration: Bridge cloud back-ends with embedded IoT hardware and charging station firmware.High-Availability Operations: Ensure 99.9% uptime across production environments, managing automated failover protocols, release integrity, and observability (logging, metrics, alerting).People Leadership & Mentorship: Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, goal setting, and technical code reviews to upskill direct reports and mid-level developers.Security & Governance: Implement advanced security protocols aligned with ISO 27001, Australian Privacy Principles, PCI DSS, and industry standards (OCPP/OCPI).
What You'll Bring (Requirements)
Must-Haves:
5+ Years' Software Experience: Substantial time dedicated to back-end development in production environments.Core Tech Stack: Proven expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and distributed, event-driven microservices architectures.Data & Cloud Mastery: Deep experience with MongoDB (or NoSQL alternatives), Kubernetes, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and GCP (or equivalent cloud provider).High Availability: Demonstrated success maintaining 99.9%+ system uptime and managing production release integrity.People Management: Direct experience managing at least 1-3 engineers, including performance reviews, 1:1s, and technical mentorship.Modern Developer Workflow: Confident user of AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) as a core part of your daily workflow.Security & Privacy: Solid understanding of API security, data privacy, and governance principles.
Highly Desired (Nice to Haves):
