Business Controller Role Overview As a Business Controller, you will play a key role in helping SFI Markets understand, measure, and improve business performance across its fixed income activities. Working directly with the CFO and senior management, you will translate financial and operational data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making, profitability growth, and capital efficiency. You will operate at the intersection of finance, business performance, and regulatory capital management, helping answer critical questions such as: Which products and business activities generate the strongest returns? How efficiently is capital being allocated? How do regulatory capital requirements, liquidity considerations, and balance sheet usage impact profitability and growth? Key Responsibilities • Management Reporting & Performance Analysis: Own and further develop management reporting, performance dashboards, KPIs, and forward-looking business analysis. • Profitability Analytics: Analyse revenue drivers, margins, costs, and profitability across products, desks, business lines, and legal entities. • Business Partnering: Challenge assumptions, identify performance improvement opportunities, and translate complex financial data into clear recommendations for senior management. • Strategic Decision Support: Support commercial initiatives, pricing decisions, resource allocation, and strategic projects through data-driven analysis and financial modelling. • Capital & Regulatory Analytics: Develop capital-adjusted profitability metrics and assess the relationship between return, risk, liquidity, and balance sheet consumption. • Financial Modelling & Business Cases: Prepare financial models, scenario analyses, and business cases for new products, investments, and international expansion initiatives. • Regulatory Impact Assessment: Work closely with Finance, Risk, and senior stakeholders to evaluate the financial and commercial impact of regulatory developments and capital requirements. What You'll Bring • Experience: 3+ years of experience in Business Control, FP&A, Financial Control, Financial Analysis, or a similar finance role within financial services, capital markets, banking, or investment firms. • Analytical Mindset: Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to transform large datasets into meaningful business insights. • Financial Expertise: Solid understanding of financial reporting, profitability analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management. • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills are essential; experience with Power BI is a strong advantage. • Regulatory Awareness: Interest in capital management, liquidity, regulatory finance, and the broader financial markets environment. • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. • Languages: Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong advantage. • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
