Why you'll love this job This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology DivisionResponsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work What You'll Do This list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Collaborates with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads and other developers, along with internal customers, to understand requirements and develop needs according to business requirementsMaintains and enhances existing enterprise services, applications, and platforms using domain driven design and test-driven developmentTroubleshoots and debugs complex issues; identifies and implements solutionsCreates detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimatesResearches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performanceSupports the development of coding standards and adheres to best practices and security guidelinesWorks closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training3 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments3 years of professional, design, and open-source experience Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training5 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experienceAirline Industry experience Skills, Licenses & Certifications Proficiency with Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, PostgreSQL migration planning to Azure, logical replica-tion architecture, HA/DR design, private networking, maintenance windows, parameter governance, and database mod-ernizationProficiency with Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, CDC, Debezium, streaming pipelines, or real-time data integration patternsProficiency in database cost optimization (reserved capacity, autoscaling, tiering)Proficiency inHorizontal and vertical scaling strategiesRead replicas and caching layers (Redis)Proficiency in performance tuningSlow query analysisResource utilization optimizationProficiency in implementing:Backup and restore automationFault-tolerant architecturesProven experience supporting regulated, high-availability, or mission-critical environments where reliability, observability, security, and change control are essentialProficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUMExperience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment What You'll Get Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
