Description

About Brdg Construction finance still runs on a maze of email threads, spreadsheets, PDFs, and manual follow-ups. Every draw brings together real estate developers, lenders, cost consultants, and contractors. Small gaps in information can turn into expensive delays. Brdg is building a better operating system for that work. We bring document collection, project financials, collaboration, approvals, and reporting into one place, then use automation and AI to make complex workflows faster, clearer, and more reliable. We are hiring our first engineer. You will work directly with the founders to turn real customer problems into products, own important systems from the first conversation through production, and help define how engineering works as Brdg grows. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with unusually broad ownership. Why this role matters Brdg’s next phase is about turning the platform from something customers manage into an always-on system that works for them, automatically moving projects forward, presenting completed work for review, and bringing people in only when their judgment or input is needed. You will help build the product and technical foundation that makes this possible, working as the founders’ technical partner on product decisions and helping shape our engineering culture. You will have room to challenge assumptions, speak with customers, make tradeoffs, and ship. What you’ll own Own product areas end-to-end: understand the customer problem, shape the solution, design the system, build it across the stack, release it, and learn from usage.Work directly with construction-finance teams to turn messy real-world workflows into clear product and technical requirements.Build reliable backend workflows, data models, browser experiences, document-processing systems, integrations, and agentic features.Make pragmatic architecture decisions that balance speed today with a codebase we can confidently extend tomorrow.Raise the bar for testing, observability, security, permissions, deployment, and operational reliability. Problems you may work on Construction-finance workflows still require managers to monitor every project, chase inputs, and move work forward manually. Brdg must remove that coordination burden by handling routine work continuously and escalating only true exceptions. The information needed to act is scattered across documents, emails, and systems, and is often incomplete or inconsistent. For automation to be trusted, Brdg must understand that context, explain its work, and recognize when human judgment is required.Prospective enterprise customers need confidence that sensitive financial and project data is secure, private, properly isolated, and fully auditable. Achieving enterprise readiness means making security, privacy, permissions, compliance, and operational resilience foundational to the platform.Brdg’s product is evolving quickly, but that speed can create inconsistent patterns and a disjointed user experience. The challenge is to make every new feature feel like part of the same intuitive, distinctly Brdg product.Real-estate and finance teams work across property and project-management platforms, accounting and ERP systems, banking, payments, and document systems. Brdg cannot become the always-on layer without integrating deeply enough for data and actions to flow across that ecosystem. Who you are You want the ownership and ambiguity of an early-stage company. This is senior-level scope, but evidence of judgment and ownership matters more than a precise number of years. You’ve shipped meaningful production software end-to-end and made decisions about what to build, not just how to implement it.You’re genuinely full-stack: strong in Python and backend systems, comfortable with data and infrastructure, and capable of owning frontend architecture, UI details, and product design. You care how the experience feels, not just whether it works. You can debug across layers, reason about asynchronous workflows and failure modes, and build reliable systems around important data. You communicate clearly, make tradeoffs explicit, and maintain a high quality bar without overengineering. You use AI-assisted development thoughtfully, with judgment and verification. Our stack You do not need experience with every part of the stack, but you should be able to learn quickly and enjoy working across boundaries. Today, Brdg is built with: Python and DjangoPostgreSQL and AWS servicesCelery and RedisServer-rendered HTML and plain browser JavaScriptLLM-powered document extraction and agentic workflow automation What you can expect Real ownership. You will not be handed a finished specification; you will help discover and define the right product.Direct contact with customers and the consequences of your decisions. Short feedback loops.A chance to shape product direction, technical foundations, engineering standards, and the next hires.Founders who want a candid technical partner, not an order-taker.This is a full-time, in-person role based in our Montreal office. We offer a competitive salary, meaningful equity, and flexible paid time off.
