Position OverviewPOZzlePiece Inc. is seeking a Back-End Developer Intern to support the development and evolution of our technology platform. The successful candidate will work closely with our product and engineering team to develop server-side functionality, APIs, database integrations, and supporting infrastructure. This position provides an opportunity to gain practical experience contributing to an early-stage technology venture while working on a product with a strong social-impact mission. Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with the design, development, and maintenance of backend application functionalityDevelop and maintain APIs and database integrationsImplement reliable, secure, and maintainable server-side codeTroubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issuesCollaborate with front-end developers to support efficient data flow and application performanceAssist with backend performance optimization and scalabilityParticipate in code reviews and technical discussionsContribute to technical documentation and development standardsSupport testing and quality assurance activitiesCollaborate with the broader product and engineering team to translate requirements into technical solutions QualificationsRequired/Preferred Skills: Knowledge of back-end web development and software development principlesUnderstanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and general programming conceptsFoundational knowledge of front-end developmentFamiliarity with APIs, web technologies, and database conceptsBasic knowledge of REST APIs and SQL and/or NoSQL databasesFamiliarity with at least one server-side programming language or framework, such as Node.js, Python, Java, or a comparable technologyStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAttention to detail and commitment to writing quality codeAbility to learn new technologies and work effectively in an evolving startup environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate effectively within a remote development teamEnrollment in or completion of a degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, but not required Internship StructureEmployment Type: Unpaid Internship Work Arrangement: Remote Schedule: Flexible, based on team and project requirements This internship is structured as an opportunity for professional development, practical experience, mentorship, and meaningful contribution to an early-stage technology company.
