Let's start with the important bits! This is a permanent position paying £55,000-£75,000, depending on experience, with three days per week onsite (close to Watford). Well, it's not just about maintaining legacy code and fixing technical debt. You'll be joining a scaling tech business operating in the IoT space, where the tech challenges are complex and rewarding, spanning real-time data processing, scalability, reliability, and cloud-native architectures. The team is currently building a next-generation platform and is looking for an experienced Python engineer to be part of that journey. What You'll Be Doing You'll help build a modern, cloud-native platform based around high-performance microservices and event-driven architectures, including: Designing and developing scalable Python applications and servicesBuilding high-performance APIs and microservicesWorking with event-driven systems and real-time data processingContributing to architectural decisions and technical directionMentoring and supporting less experienced developers What You'll Need Strong hands-on Python development experienceProven experience with async Python (asyncio, async/await)Experience building applications using frameworks such as: FastAPI, Django etcExperience working with databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQLExperience developing cloud-based applications (Azure preferred)Experience building distributed, microservices-based systemsA passion for writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code Interview Process Stage 1: Video interview (approx. 30 mins)Stage 2: F2F interview, including a Python-based technical exercise (approx. 1.5 hrs) Other Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
