Description
About Geocento
Geocento is a dynamic and growing space technology company based in the UK and Spain.
Our mission is to enable large organisations to integrate imagery of our planet into their operations for enhanced situational awareness, at a time when there are unprecedented global challenges and risks.
In some cases, our clients require imagery quickly for rapid situational awareness where threats are serious and wide-ranging and so need to be as efficient as possible.
In other cases, our clients are not experts in earth observation and struggle with knowing how to deploy the data in an optimal fashion for their applications.
To assist with both of these cases, we are looking to leverage AI in the next launch of our services, and are looking for two experienced software engineers to play a key role in realising this vision.
What we offer
Impactful work: Join a small, friendly, and ambitious team where your contributions directly influence the company’s path.Autonomy and freedom: Significant ownership, working under minimal direction.Innovation: A culture that values curiosity, pushing boundaries, and exploring new domains.Competitive salary and terms.
The role
You will design, scale, and maintain the cloud infrastructure and delivery pipelines that power our web application platform, while architecting the data and MLOps pipelines required to move our next-generation AI capabilities reliably into production.
Role expectations
Make significant technical infrastructure and architecture contributions.Tackle complex scalability, reliability, and automation problems on our core platform.Work closely with a small team, bridging the gap between core software development and cloud operations.Build and maintain efficient pipelines to support AI models (ingestion, vector indexing, and production deployment).Ensure high availability, performance, and security across multi-project environments.
What we’re looking for
Essential
5+ years of professional engineering experience with a strong focus on platform, DevOps, or site reliability engineering.Strong analytical mindset: Problem-solving, infrastructure-as-code patterns, and deep system troubleshooting.Production experience with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS), including cluster management, scaling, and container orchestration.Hands-on automation experience managing deployments via GitHub Actions and GitLab CI/CD pipelines across different projects.Commitment to cybersecurity best practices, including a strong understanding of firewalls, secure configurations, and identity/access management (IAM).UK resident, or eligible and willing to be a UK resident.Excellent written and spoken English.Autonomous, innovative thinker who can operate with limited direction.Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable in a small team.Able and willing to travel internationally from time to time.Available to start within 3 months of offer.
Technical proficiency
Deep expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure and containerized environments (Docker, EKS, Helm).Strong scripting and automation skills, ideally in Python and Bash.Experience building or managing data/AI pipelines (e.g., orchestrating vector databases, handling model deployment, or managing data lakes).Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.Experience implementing or maintaining Cyber Essentials standards (e.g., configuring multi-factor authentication (MFA), boundary firewalls, least-privilege user access, and routine patch updates).Familiarity supporting backend applications written in Java and Python.Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum or similar).
Desirable
Experience setting up MLOps frameworks or handling heavy Earth Observation / GIS geospatial data pipelines.National of a NATO member country.Available to start within 6 weeks of offer.
Salary range
£60,000 - £90,000 based on experience and negotiable
Next steps
If you’re an autonomous, innovative engineer ready to take on exciting infrastructure challenges and help revolutionise access to earth observation, we would love to hear from you.
