Description
As Staff Engineer / Tech Lead Azure/.NET, you'll own the technical direction of our .NET and Azure platforms - leading the design of scalable, cloud-native solutions across a landscape that spans .NET and PHP-based e-commerce systems.
You'll split your time between hands-on architecture work and technical leadership: driving key engineering decisions, mentoring engineers, and pushing the modernization of our platforms forward.
You'll work closely with Software Engineers, DevOps, QA, and Product, and your decisions will directly shape engineering excellence, reliability, and developer productivity at Klarstein.
What you will do:
Own the architecture and technical direction of critical services, leading the design and implementation of complex backend and cloud-native solutionsLead technical investigations, proof of concepts, and modernization/refactoring strategies — identifying technical debt and driving pragmatic long-term platform improvementsCollaborate across .NET, PHP, DevOps, QA, Product, and external teams, translating business requirements into scalable technical solutionsMentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, pair programming, and technical coachingDrive engineering excellence — best practices in testing, security, observability, and operational reliability, including incident/root-cause support and contributing to engineering standards and documentationPromote AI-assisted engineering practices to improve developer productivity and software quality
What we are looking for:
8+ years of professional backend development experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET Core, .NET 8/10, Entity Framework Core, REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger), combined with a strong architectural mindset for designing scalable, resilient distributed systemsProven experience designing cloud-native systems on Microsoft Azure — including microservices, event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, and API-first design — with hands-on use of core Azure services (e.g.
Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure Functions, App Services, Key Vault, Application Insights)Experience designing secure, cost-optimized cloud architectures (networking, identity/access management, application security), and building production systems with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred), and observability practicesStrong experience with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MongoDB) and working across heterogeneous systems — integrating .NET services, PHP applications, and third-party/enterprise platforms (e.g.
SAP, REST/SOAP APIs)Track record mentoring engineers, leading technical reviews, and driving engineering standards across teams, ideally within Agile, cross-functional environments (Product, DevOps, QA, architects)Excellent written and spoken English
Nice to have:
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf) and using them to improve development, testing, and documentation workflowsDeep grounding in clean architecture / domain-driven design principlesDirect experience integrating with SAP or comparable large-scale enterprise platforms
