About the Opportunity The Software Engineer II, Backend contributes to the scalability, performance, and reliability of backend systems supporting the organization’s largest customers. This role focuses on building high-scale infrastructure and backend services capable of handling growing workloads and diverse application demands. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with experienced engineers, solve complex technical challenges, and contribute to a strong engineering culture while participating in on-call operations. Responsibilities • Develop and maintain infrastructure capable of supporting applications across a wide range of sizes and complexities. • Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of backend services supporting efficiency, capacity management, and data processing. • Implement observability practices, including service level objectives, monitoring, and performance tracking. • Build systems capable of processing high volumes of requests across diverse end-user applications. • Develop workflow engine and data-tier components that support large-scale data operations. • Build core services and tools for next-generation cloud infrastructure. • Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and capacity challenges across backend systems. • Participate in incident triage and on-call rotations to diagnose and resolve production issues. • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. Requirements • Minimum 2 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in a high-growth startup or similarly fast-paced environment. • Strong programming and software development skills. • Basic understanding of scalable distributed systems and backend architecture. • Willingness to learn and work with technologies such as Node.js, Rust, PostgreSQL, Terraform, and AWS. • Demonstrated ability to develop scalable solutions for complex, high-traffic systems. • Proactive ownership mindset with strong initiative and problem-solving abilities. • Effective communication and collaboration skills. • Ability to prioritize work and execute effectively in a team environment. • Commitment to participating in on-call and after-hours support processes. • Alignment with values centered on empowerment, transparency, accountability, and team and user success. Pay Range and Compensation Package • Estimated annual salary range of $145,000–$187,000. • Actual compensation may vary based on skills, qualifications, experience, market conditions, and other relevant factors.
