As a Software Engineer II on our Data and Storage teams, you will architect the foundational infrastructure that powers business decisions and core services for millions of users. Whether you are scaling distributed storage platforms or building high-performance data pipelines, you will be solving complex challenges at the intersection of low latency, high correctness, and massive scale. The problems here are messy and the systems are global. You'll need to make smart decisions with imperfect information, own your work end-to-end, and stay calm when high-load systems are on the line. What You'll Do Design and develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance software platforms and services for Uber's cyber defense. Drive development of AI agents that support cyber defense workflows including threat intelligence, hunting, research, and more. Collaborate with cross-functional cybersecurity experts to translate requirements into automated, production-ready capabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional software engineering teams to build end-to-end cyber defense solutions. Contribute to strategy by defining what good looks like across cyber defense domains and guiding the team toward measurable outcomes. Deliver high-quality, secure code and mentor junior engineers in both engineering and security best practices. May telecommute. Basic Qualifications Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Machine Learning, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, followed by five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. OR employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Machine Learning, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, and three years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Position requires three years in:Programming language: Python, Go, Java, or C++;Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized platforms (Docker or Kubernetes);Experience with AI/ML such as building AI agent-driven workflows;SQL or MySQL;Data structures and algorithms development and functionality;Designing technology stacks;Debugging and monitoring for production services;Software Development Lifecycle.
