About the Role
KNDS Deutschland is seeking a DevOps Engineer (m/w/d) to support the design, development, and operation of CI/CD, automation, virtualization, monitoring, and IT infrastructure solutions for simulation software.
The role is responsible for ensuring reliable operation, availability, scalability, and continuous improvement of internal IT systems and tools across multiple software generations.
The successful candidate will bring several years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD, virtualization, and IT system or server administration.
You will work across technical and business teams, contribute to system architecture and technical standards, coordinate Agile activities, and may have the opportunity to take on future technical leadership of a team of 7–9 employees.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD build pipelines for simulation software across multiple software generations.Develop and optimize internal monitoring tools for simulation systems.Drive the introduction and further development of virtualization and automation solutions.Ensure reliable operation, availability, and continuous improvement of internal IT systems and tools.Define system requirements and develop system architectures and designs.Ensure platform scalability and stability.Potentially take on technical leadership of a team of 7–9 employees, including mentoring and performance development.Plan, moderate, and follow up on Sprint Planning and Sprint Reviews.Support successful achievement of Sprint goals.Coordinate collaboration between business and technical departments as a central point of contact.Ensure the quality and timely delivery of work results.Automate computer installations and configurations.Support software deployment and system monitoring.Design and optimize DevOps processes and technical architecture standards.
Required Qualifications
Successfully completed degree in a natural science or comparable qualification.Several years of professional experience in DevOps, CI/CD, virtualization, and IT system or server administration.Experience with computer installation and configuration automation.Experience with software deployment and system monitoring.Solid knowledge of DevOps environments and experience designing and optimizing DevOps processes.Experience defining and implementing technical architecture standards.Strong practical knowledge of GitLab, Artifactory, Docker, Jenkins, Hyper-V, VMware, Windows, and Linux systems.Independent and structured working style.Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.Good time management and ability to assertively drive tasks forward.Fluent German and English language skills.Willingness to undertake national and international business travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with system and software architecture for complex IT or simulation systems.Experience or interest in taking on technical leadership responsibilities for a team.Knowledge of Python, Bash, PowerShell, and Grafana.
