About The Role We are seeking a technically versatile Java & COBOL Developer (m/f/d) to join our team, focusing on regulatory-compliant applications within the health insurance sector. This hybrid role bridges modern decentralized software solutions with our proven mainframe architecture, supporting both our testing software and mainframe-based services. As part of an agile team, you will work closely within your squad to ensure the stability, security, and continuous improvement of our systems. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and supporting our Prüfsoftware and mainframe applications, designing interfaces, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as DORA and VAIT. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of traditional mainframe development and modern software engineering, contributing to innovative solutions that shape the future of health insurance processing. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree in (business) informatics or a comparable qualification, such as a certified IT specialist, complemented by substantial professional experience in software development. You should have solid expertise in mainframe development with COBOL and experience querying and updating DB2 databases on the host system. Programming skills in Java for backend development are essential, with additional familiarity in frontend technologies like JavaScript or Angular considered advantageous. Knowledge of modern DevOps practices, container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes, or a strong interest in learning these areas is highly valued. You should demonstrate a structured and organized approach to work, capable of managing complex interface and release processes. Fluency in German and excellent communication skills are required, along with experience working in an agile environment, preferably Scrum. A high awareness of quality standards and compliance regulations, including DORA and VAIT, is also important. Responsibilities Collaborate with colleagues to oversee the technical and administrative management of testing software systems such as Kolumbus DRG, ZABAS, and the CSV splitter, ensuring their proper operation and maintenance.Ensure the smooth operation, timely updates, and ongoing maintenance of these applications to support business processes.Assist in the maintenance, further development, and support of our health insurance core system (HOST), ensuring its stability and compliance.Design, develop, and optimize interfaces and data structures on the mainframe, facilitating efficient data exchange and processing.Plan and coordinate software releases between decentralized Java-based systems and the mainframe database environment, ensuring seamless integration and minimal downtime.Maintain adherence to regulatory requirements such as DORA and VAIT, particularly regarding data security and privacy standards.Implement structured testing procedures to uphold software quality and reliability.
