Description
Job DescriptionPlatform Engineer II helps build and evolve Entain's Google Cloud Platform (GCP) foundation, with a primary focus on designing enterprise-scale GCP Landing Zones and cloud networking services.
You will allow product teams to provision, deploy, observe, and secure workloads through self-service platforms, automation, and platform engineering best practices.
You will maintain core Landing Zone capabilities.
These capabilities include folder and project hierarchy, Shared VPC architecture, IAM governance, organisation policies, Terraform-based project onboarding, security guardrails, observability standards, and compliance controls.
You will build reusable platform components and automation that allow teams to consume cloud services while reducing operational overhead.
We ask that you 3+ years of experience in Google Cloud networking and Network Connectivity Centre (NCC).
This expertise enables scalable hub-and-spoke connectivity patterns across multiple projects, environments, cloud providers, and on-premises networks.
You will design enterprise connectivity solutions.
These solutions will use NCC, Cloud Router, Cloud VPN, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS, Partner Interconnect, Dedicated Interconnect, and BGP-based routing architectures.
The goal is to provide secure, and observable connectivity across the organisation.
This is a platform-engineering role with a strong emphasis on GCP automation and enablement.
It focuses on the continuous improvement of the platform as a product, ensuring teams can move fast and safely across our multi-cloud estate.
Platform enablement (build and evolve)
Design hub-and-spoke connectivity models using NCC to simplify network management, improve routing visibility, and allow scalable connectivity patterns.Experience supporting and maintaining multi-cloud landing zones across AWS and GCP, ensuring secure, scalable, and standardised cloud foundations.Implement GitOps workflows and policy‑as‑code guardrails so they enforce security, observability, and compliance by default.Troubleshoot complex networking issues involving routing, DNS resolution, peering, firewalls, private service access, and hybrid cloud connectivity.Work with AWS, networking, and infrastructure teams to support multi-cloud connectivity strategies between GCP and AWS environments.Work from a product backlog (epics/stories), prioritising items that maximise developer outcomes and platform adoption.Consult and adoption support
Be an internal advisor to squads that need help adopting platform capabilities, provide Integrate NCC with Cloud VPN, Dedicated Interconnect, Partner Interconnect, and third-party network environments.Guide teams to use platform-paved paths and approved patterns, collect feedback and turn it into platform improvements.Support secure‑by‑default designs and understanding of data protection/compliance requirements with policy‑as‑code and standard templates.Cloud governance, security and compliance
Integrate and use enterprise security tools (e.g.Wiz) to identify risks and lead remediation through code, templates, or policies—minimising manual changes.Work with AWS Organisations, accounts, GCP folders/projects, IAM, networking, logging, monitoring, and security baselines.Maintain landing‑zone guardrails and organisation/project baselines for AWS and GCP (identity, networking, logging, monitoring, tagging/FinOps, controls).Contribute to automated evidence and reporting for compliance and platform controls.
