Java Developer

Role Description This part-time remote Java Developer role at Aprende con Datos focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining backend services that support data-driven learning products. The developer will implement and enhance Java-based applications, build and optimize microservices, and collaborate with product and data teams to translate requirements into clean, maintainable code. Daily tasks include writing and reviewing code, integrating APIs, troubleshooting and debugging issues, improving performance and reliability, and contributing to technical documentation. The role also involves participating in code reviews, following secure development practices, and supporting continuous integration and deployment workflows within a distributed team. Qualifications Strong foundation in Programming and Software Development, with hands-on experience in Java.Practical experience with the Spring Framework for building robust, scalable applications and services.Knowledge of Microservices architecture, including designing, deploying, and maintaining distributed services.Familiarity with RESTful APIs, relational or NoSQL databases, and version control tools such as Git.Ability to write clean, tested, and maintainable code, with experience using unit testing and build tools (e.g., Maven or Gradle).Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with remote, cross-functional teams.Comfort working independently, managing part-time hours, and delivering on agreed timelines.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
