Senior Azure Java Stack Software Engineer | Java | Azure | Full Stack | NV1 | Canberra We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Java Developer to join a high-performing technology team delivering secure, large-scale enterprise applications and data platforms. This is an opportunity for an experienced software engineer who enjoys staying hands-on while also taking ownership of technical solutions, architecture and delivery. You’ll be working across Java, Spring Boot, Azure, microservices, APIs and distributed data platforms, solving complex engineering problems in a highly technical environment. The role has a strong backend focus, but we’re looking for someone who is comfortable working across the full stack and understands how the different layers come together. What you’ll be working on: Designing, developing, testing, deploying and supporting secure, scalable Java applicationsBuilding Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs and integrationsWorking across distributed systems, event-driven architectures and large-scale data platformsDesigning end-to-end solutions across application, integration and data layersWorking with high-volume data ingestion, processing, search and distribution platformsTroubleshooting complex production issues and performing root-cause analysisOptimising application performance, reliability and operational resilienceWorking across Azure cloud environmentsContributing to CI/CD, automated testing and DevSecOps practicesTaking ownership of solutions from initial requirements through to production supportProviding technical leadership through design, code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharingContributing to architectural decisions, technical investigations and continuous improvement We’re looking for someone with: 7+ years’ experience developing enterprise applications using JavaStrong experience with Spring Framework and Spring BootStrong full-stack development experience across backend, frontend and integration technologiesExperience with JPA/Hibernate, Maven, REST APIs and JSONStrong understanding of microservices, distributed systems and event-driven architectureExperience working with large-scale data platforms and technologies such as Kafka, NiFi or ElasticsearchStrong SQL/database experience and an understanding of data modelling and query optimisationExperience with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD and automated testingExperience working with cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft AzureStrong understanding of secure coding, performance tuning and software engineering practicesThe ability to take ownership of complex technical outcomes and work with a high degree of autonomy Desirable: React or AngularTypeScript / JavaScriptDocker and KubernetesTerraform or AnsibleLinux administrationExperience with modern observability platformsAI-assisted software engineering tools Canberra | Hybrid 12-month contract + extensions Competitive hourly rate NV1 required or ability to obtain This is a great opportunity for a senior engineer who wants to stay technically hands-on while taking on genuine ownership across architecture, engineering and delivery within a complex enterprise environment.
