Where the team fits in New Homes Engage is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build and evolve the products, platforms and services that power New Homes experiences across realestate.com.au and Ignite. This role spans customer-facing experiences, backend services and operational ownership across areas such as project profiles, builder profiles and developer listing workflows. You’ll work in a multi-language engineering environment spanning Scala, TypeScript, JavaScript and Ruby, and you’ll contribute across solution design, delivery, system quality, production support, mentoring and technical leadership. What The Role Is All About The Senior Software Engineer supports the Engage team in the following ways: Focusing on a wide range of technologies including Scala, TypeScript, Javascript and RubyContributing to the overall technical solution designStrengthen system quality through testing, observability, monitoring, release confidence and continuous improvementManaging and maintaining existing systems in line with our product custodianship strategyParticipating in engineering practices that produce testable, maintainable products to be proud ofKnowledge sharing & mentoring other developers within the team and the wider REA community Who We’re Looking For Approximately 5 years of experience building reliable, scalable, complex web appsStrong software engineering fundamentals and experience delivering production systems end to endExperience working across web applications, APIs and distributed systemsConfidence contributing to solution design, technical trade-offs and system evolutionA pragmatic approach to improving legacy systems while still delivering customer valueA strong sense of ownership for product quality, reliability and maintainabilityThe ability to mentor others and lead through influence, collaboration and sound engineering judgementOpen to learning other languages and frameworks that support our technical directionUnderstanding of software infrastructure, deployment practices and CI/CD The REA Experience The physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we’ll never stop caring about.
