Description

Location: Germany What You’ll Do Lead system engineering across the lifecycle—from CONOPS, use cases, requirements, and ICDs, through architecture, design reviews, integration, verification, and qualification. Define and integrate optical communications solutions into radio-based products, ensuring seamless interoperability and performance. Collaborate across disciplines (optical, RF, software, networking, cyber, mechanical, etc.) and with product/program teams. Author SE deliverables: system specs, ICDs, test plans/procedures, acceptance criteria, user/ops considerations, and contribute to certification/qualification documentation. What You’ll Bring Deep expertise in optical communications (free-space optics, fiber-optic systems, modulation formats, photonic devices, link budgets, BER/OSNR, availability). Proven system engineering experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary communication systems from early concept through integration and acceptance. Excellent technical writing and communication skills; comfortable leading reviews and driving decisions across stakeholders. Open innovation mindset: experience working with external partners, startups, or research groups to evaluate and integrate new technologies. Tooling: MATLAB/Simulink, scripting (Python), optical/RF test equipment and automation—an advantage. Qualifications BSc in Electrical/Communications Engineering/ Physics (or related). MSc is an advantage. 5+ years in system engineering for optical or advanced communications systems. Eligibility for security clearance. Languages: Fluency in English is required, while proficiency in German is considered an advantage. #Germany
