Overview The Engineering Manager leads engineering teams responsible for delivering high‑quality product software within defined areas of responsibility. This role sits below Engineering Director and above Senior/Staff Engineers and is a people‑management role with direct reports. The Engineering Manager is accountable for delivery execution, team performance, and technical quality, working closely with Product Management, Architecture, Operations, and Support. The role executes the product roadmap, makes reliable tactical decisions, and contributes technical input to product direction without owning company‑wide strategy. This position is within the Retailer Management Applications domain, focused on cloud‑native, multi‑tenant services and components. This role does not require day‑to‑day coding but requires strong technical credibility. Responsibilities People Leadership: Line‑manage a team of software engineers (typically 5–10)Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planningCoach engineers on technical growth, ownership, and operational excellenceSupport hiring, onboarding, retention, and performance managementEnsure adherence to company policies and engineering standards Delivery & Execution Own delivery outcomes for assigned product areasExecute product roadmaps in alignment with Product Management and ArchitectureTranslate objectives into actionable plans and milestonesTrack progress, manage risks, and make course corrections as neededPlan and report delivery over 1 to 12 month horizons Technical Leadership Provide technical direction and oversight without being the primary implementerEnsure software aligns with architectural principles, standards, and maintainability goalsReview designs and challenge decisions constructivelyEnsure systems meet standards for reliability, performance, security, and observabilityAct as a technical and operational escalation point Cross‑Functional Collaboration Partner with Product Management to provide technical input and execute the roadmapFacilitate collaboration with other Product Engineering teamsCollaborate with DevOps, Operations, Support, Security, and Legal to ensure products are deployable, operable, and compliantCommunicate progress, risks, and trade‑offs clearly to leadership and stakeholders Qualifications Higher education, preferably in Information Technology or a related field5–8 years of experience in software engineeringProven experience managing engineers with direct reportsStrong background as a software engineer or technical leadExperience with teams and projects comprising Java as well as front end engineersAbility to balance people leadership, delivery accountability, and technical oversightExperience delivering and operating business‑critical systemsFluency in EnglishWillingness to travel internationally when required Success Profile Leading Complexity Leading People Leading the Business Leading Self #LotteryTechnology This information reflects Brightstar Lottery’s good-faith estimate of compensation for this position at the time of publication. Actual compensation will be determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and internal compensation policies. Factors that we consider include, but are not limited to, role, career level, performance, skills, level of expertise, experience, location, market competitiveness, and internal equity. The estimated starting compensation range is 298,607 zł – 459,395 zł. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable. In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for an annual performance-based bonus with a set target (15% of salary) aligned with individual and company performance. Eligibility and payout may be prorated based on date of hire and service during the performance period or sales commission.
