About The Team The Payments organization owns some of Stripe’s most critical payment flows and a platform that processes hundreds of billions of dollars in payments a year. Our team builds and scales the infrastructure and financial partner integrations that enables Stripe to accept, manage, and payout money across many countries, currencies, and payment methods. Technical Operations roles in Payments are a dynamic and key component of Stripe's success. Focused on financial partner integrations and funds flow expansion, we sit at the intersection of product/platform engineers and financial partners, connecting them to ensure that everyone thrives and nothing is lost in translation. Our team partners closely with various finance and infrastructure engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of accurate data between financial partners, internal stakeholders, and Stripe leaders. We report and trace all of Stripe’s money movement transactions, including payments in more than 30 currencies and dozens of countries. You’ll own building and scaling Stripe’s manual and programmatic financial reporting and reconciliation processes for intra-company and outgoing money movement transactions. What you’ll do Responsibilities Become a domain expert in an area of Stripe’s payments stackFind automated solutions and implement tool updates to drive operational efficienciesEngage with Stripe's financial partners to drive alignment on product usage, troubleshoot and solve technical problems or breakagesOrganize and direct complex technical changes and projects between Stripe and our partnersIdentify and automate inefficient or unnecessary manual processes through code changes, partner agreements, or making and coordinating more complex code changes across StripeDesign future anomaly detection systems and tools to ensure that data flowing through our partner and internal systems is reliable and correctCollaborate across the company, including engineering, accounting, financial partnerships and product, to trace and account for billions of dollars moving through the Stripe platformHandle inquiries from internal Stripes and external partners' technical teams, often requiring detailed investigation and sometimes code changes Who you are We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. Technical Operations roles are one part coding and one part managing projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in both, but successful candidates may index more highly in one or the other. We work mostly in Ruby and Java. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general coding skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework. Minimum Requirements 2-6 years of experience in a technical role (ex: Technical Operations, Software Engineer, etc.)Have experience managing communications and workflows with technical and non-technical teams across internal and external stakeholdersAbility to write high quality code. We work mostly in Ruby and Java. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general coding skill than knowledge of a particular language or frameworkComfort using SQL to navigate Stripe's data and diagnose the scope and urgency of issuesBe able to build operational processing and tooling from scratch to prevent repeatable issuesComfort with developer tools (e.g. git), and an ability to make well-scoped code changes in Stripe's codebaseGreat technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop a working understanding of a technical system using a variety of methods. These include (but aren't limited to): reading/writing code, reading documentation or partner specifications, running debugging programs, reading logs, asking well-formed questions to domain experts, or digging into the raw data through various interfaces Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of and experience with payment technologies and ecosystemsExperience managing communications and workflows with external financial partners and vendors In-office expectations Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible. Pay and benefits The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is CA$119,700 - CA$179,500. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process. Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
