This is a highly technical role for an engineer who enjoys working close to the operating system and solving complex infrastructure challenges. You will own the testing strategy for a custom Linux kernel, build scalable automation and continuous testing infrastructure, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure exceptional performance, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate combines deep Linux systems and kernel knowledge with strong software development, test automation, CI/CD, debugging, and performance engineering experience. What You'll DoLead the overall test strategy for a custom Linux kernel supporting AI and Compute platforms.Design, build, and scale automated test frameworks focused on performance, reliability, and security.Develop comprehensive test suites for new Linux kernel enhancements and support porting existing modifications to newer kernel and VM infrastructure versions.Troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve complex low-level system issues across test and simulated production environments.Architect and continuously improve build, automation, and continuous integration/testing infrastructure.Perform Linux kernel debugging, performance benchmarking, and system-level validation.Partner closely with software, systems, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams to establish quality standards and deliver reliable infrastructure at scale.Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other engineers.Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, automation efficiency, system reliability, and development workflows.Drive quality engineering practices across highly distributed technical environments. What We're Looking For12+ years of relevant software engineering, software development, SDET, test, or systems engineering experience.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.Strong software development and validation experience using C, particularly in Linux kernel or systems-level environments.Strong scripting experience with Python, Shell, and/or Perl.Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals, including areas such as:KVM and virtualizationVirtio driverscgroupsMemory managementFile systemsBlock I/OEthernet/network driversTCP/IP stackExtensive experience with Linux kernel debugging tools and techniques.Strong experience with performance benchmarking and system-level validation.Proven experience designing, building, and supporting continuous integration and automated testing frameworks.Strong ability to troubleshoot complex system-level issues and identify root causes across hardware/software boundaries.Experience working with large-scale, distributed build and test environments.Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical direction and mentor engineers.Self-driven and comfortable operating independently in a highly distributed, remote environment.
