Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer GoAccess is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the technology powering modern visitor and access management. You’ll work across our platform, from customer-facing applications and backend services to cloud infrastructure and integrations with third-party hardware and software. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning projects end-to-end, solving real-world problems, and shipping reliable software. What You’ll Do * Design, build, and maintain scalable applications and backend services using Node.js and TypeScript * Build and maintain REST APIs used across our web, mobile, and hardware ecosystem * Develop and improve our Progressive Web Applications (PWAs) * Own integrations with third-party platforms, APIs, hardware, and services * Design reliable systems that communicate with devices and services deployed across customer locations * Deploy and operate production workloads across Vercel, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and AWS * Improve application performance, reliability, monitoring, and observability * Design database schemas and write efficient queries for production systems * Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, infrastructure, networks, and third-party integrations * Participate in architecture and technical design decisions * Review code and help establish engineering standards and best practices * Work closely with product, operations, and customers to turn real-world requirements into scalable solutions * Take ownership of projects from initial design through production deployment and ongoing operation What We’re Looking For * 5+ years of professional software engineering experience * Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js * Experience designing and building production APIs and backend services * Experience building modern web applications and PWAs * Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL * Production experience with cloud platforms such as GCP and/or AWS * Experience deploying applications using platforms such as Vercel * Experience integrating with third-party APIs, SDKs, webhooks, or external systems * Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, networking, and API security * Experience debugging distributed systems and production issues * Ability to independently take ownership of complex technical projects * Strong written and verbal communication skills Nice to Have * Experience with Next.js and React * Experience with PostgreSQL * Experience with serverless and containerized infrastructure * Experience with CI/CD and automated deployments * Experience building integrations with physical hardware, IoT devices, access control systems, cameras, or other edge devices * Experience with real-time systems, WebSockets, SIP, MQTT, or similar protocols * Experience working in a startup or other fast-moving engineering environment * Experience improving production observability, monitoring, and incident response About the Role At GoAccess, engineers work on more than isolated features. Our software interacts with cloud services, third-party platforms, physical access-control hardware, and systems operating at customer properties every day. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable navigating that complexity and can move between application development, APIs, integrations, infrastructure, and production troubleshooting when needed. You’ll have significant ownership over what you build and the opportunity to directly influence the architecture and technical direction of the platform.
