Role Description As a Founding Engineer, you will work closely with the founding team to design, build, and maintain core product infrastructure and features.
You will translate product ideas into technical specifications, implement high-quality code, write tests, and participate in code reviews to ensure reliability and scalability.
Day-to-day, you will collaborate on architecture decisions, debug complex issues, refine development processes, and contribute to tooling that accelerates delivery.
You will also support deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the system, providing input on both technical and product strategy.
This is a remote contract role, with flexibility to collaborate online and opportunities for occasional in-person sessions in Holmdel if desired.
Qualifications
Strong software engineering skills, including experience with modern programming languages, testing practices, and version control workflows.Background in system design and architecture, with the ability to build scalable, reliable services and make thoughtful trade-offs.Familiarity with cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and deployment pipelines to support continuous integration and delivery.Comfort working in an early-stage environment, including rapid prototyping, iterating on feedback, and handling ambiguity.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting and coordinate with a small, distributed team.Track record of ownership, problem-solving, and learning new technologies as needed.Experience as a founding or early engineer at a startup, or in highly autonomous roles, is a plus.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
