AI Backend Platform Engineer

Mandarin fluency is required for this position. Innovation Discovery Center (IDC) partners with healthcare organizations to build and deploy AI-enabled systems for real operational environments. We are expanding our engineering team to build backend infrastructure. Mandarin Requirement Mandarin fluency is required for this position. Engineers will work directly with a Mandarin-speaking Technical Lead and must be comfortable discussing architecture, APIs, code, debugging, and implementation decisions in Mandarin. Your Role You will work with our Technical Lead to implement backend and AI platform components for production-oriented healthcare applications. Responsibilities include: Build and maintain Python backend services and REST APIsIntegrate multiple LLMs and AI model APIs into application servicesBuild modular model integrations that allow AI models to be changed or compared without rewriting application logicImplement orchestration and rules-based application logic from technical specificationsBuild testing and evaluation capabilities for AI-enabled workflowsDevelop reliable error handling, logging, validation, and fallback behaviorWork with structured data and external APIsBuild and maintain Docker-based development environmentsParticipate in code reviews, debugging, testing, and technical documentationCollaborate directly with the Technical Lead on implementation decisions What We're Looking For Strong Python programming skillsExperience building backend applications and REST APIsGood understanding of modular software architecture and separation of concernsExperience integrating external APIsStrong debugging and problem-solving skillsComfortable with Git/GitHub and collaborative developmentExperience with Docker or containerized development environmentsAbility to take a technical specification and independently turn it into working, tested softwareActive use of AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, or similarProfessional working proficiency in Mandarin for technical collaboration Particularly Valuable Experience Experience in one or more of the following is helpful: FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar Python frameworksLLM/API integrationsModel routing, fallback, or multi-model applicationsPostgreSQL and RedisAutomated testing and evaluation frameworksAWS or Tencent CloudCI/CD pipelinesData integration and transformation How We Work We use AI-assisted development as part of our normal engineering workflow.
