Your Impact As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you will own the electrical design of high-current solid-state switching platforms that power mission-critical environments. Your work will directly influence the reliability, protection strategy, and performance of systems where failure is not an option. You will lead detailed schematic design for SCR/thyristor-based switching architectures, shaping protection strategies, fault response behavior, and thermal performance at the system level. This role blends deep technical expertise with cross-functional leadership, partnering with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and compliance teams to bring robust, UL-certified power platforms to market. Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Contributing to system-level architecture and electrical subsystem definition for high-current solid-state switching equipmentOwning detailed power and control schematic design for SCR/thyristor-based switching platformsDesigning and optimizing critical circuits including:Isolated gate drive and firing circuitsSnubber networks and dv/dt protectiondi/dt limiting strategiesFault commutation and semiconductor protection mechanismsPerforming thermal analysis and Safe Operating Area (SOA) evaluations for high-power semiconductor modulesConducting short-circuit, overload, fault current, and protection coordination studiesReviewing PCB layouts for high-current routing, creepage/clearance compliance, isolation integrity, and EMC performanceSupporting high-current validation and lab testing activities (up to 1600A)Participating in cross-functional design reviews and providing technical guidance to firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teamsSupporting compliance-driven development and UL certification efforts for low-voltage power electronics products Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)7+ years of hands-on experience in industrial power electronics designProven experience designing schematics for high-current systemsDeep expertise in SCR/thyristor-based solid-state switching systemsExperience developing industrial power electronics equipment such as inverters, converters, or static switching systemsFamiliarity with UL requirements and NEC guidelines for low-voltage power equipmentProficiency with schematic design tools such as Altium Designer or OrCADExperience reviewing PCB layouts in high-power applicationsWorking knowledge of EMC/EMI mitigation techniques in power electronics Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting products through UL certification or compliance testingFamiliarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or LTspiceBackground in redundant or high-reliability power architecturesExperience with FPGA/DSP-based control platforms for power switching applications Core Competencies Safety: Proactively fosters a culture of safety in high-power development and testing environmentsInclusion: Appreciates and respects individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and valuesSpeed: Operates with urgency in mission-critical product development timelinesInnovation: Continuously improves system robustness, protection strategies, and design efficiencyJudgment: Exercises strong technical decision-making in high-risk, high-current design scenariosAccountability: Owns design integrity, validation outcomes, and product reliability Benefits Competitive salary and performance bonusPaid time off401(k) retirement plan with company matchComprehensive health, dental, and vision insuranceCollaborative, high-performance workplace Job Application Notice Accelevation LLC does not ask for payment or sensitive personal details, such as bank account or Social Security numbers, during the job application process.
