About the Opportunity
The Staff Software Engineer designs and maintains scalable backend data systems that support the organization’s content catalog and metadata processing.
This role focuses on building high-performance data pipelines, secure APIs, and reliable infrastructure while collaborating with data science and machine learning teams.
The position plays a key role in shaping data architecture, optimizing system performance, and delivering secure and scalable solutions that support business growth.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend data pipelines using distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
• Build and optimize high-throughput workflows for large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and aggregation.
• Design and implement secure, scalable RESTful APIs for internal and downstream data services.
• Architect data integration solutions across diverse sources while ensuring data consistency, quality, and availability.
• Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to integrate models into production data pipelines.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to maintain pipeline reliability and performance.
• Optimize data storage and retrieval through data modeling, indexing, and query tuning across relational and NoSQL databases.
• Contribute to backend and data infrastructure architecture and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Apply data engineering best practices, including data validation, error handling, fault recovery, and operational resilience.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development or a related technical role.
• At least 3 years of professional experience with Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience deploying and operating production services on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Proven experience building and managing large-scale distributed systems in production environments.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience designing and developing data pipelines using distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling and query optimization for large-scale datasets.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
• Annual salary range of $206,086–$302,200.
• Additional compensation may include stock-based grants, variable incentives, commissions, and other role-dependent incentives.
